Today, January 11th, my son turns 25. Aaron brings me a special sense of pride. I won’t bore you with too much but I would like to share this “funny” story; life with Aaron.

One time when he was young, (I'm talking 11 or 12) Aaron did something wrong that I felt he needed to be punished for. After I stated his punishment – without a moment missed - Aaron looked directly at me and said,

"Mom, Jesus forgives so ‘why’ can’t you?"

I, in turn, said,

“Son, I am not Jesus!”

I remember that as if it were yesterday. Now, if I could only remember what he had done(???). Oh, what an amazing "ride" we share … (AND, my son won't mind me sharing this story - there a many, MANY, others that will stay close to my heart.)

These are photos of Aaron throughout the years from a newborn to present, standing with his son...

... our family treasure chest of stories will continue.

I am blessed to have a special son who has grown up to be a special man and will no doubt continue to do very special things. HAPPY BIRTHDAY AARON, I am sure you will receive many birthday wishes today ~ enjoy every moment!

I love my Grandma

I love her hands ... A peek into the personality of my Grandma ... is revealed with a quick look upon her hands. I love the jewelry she wears every piece has a story on how it came into her possession. The stories change from time to time but each time the story is told it’s wonderful to listen to.

My Grandma is priceless, I most enjoy holding her hands just before we say goodnight. I can feel the warmth of her hands now, even though I’m thousands of miles away. Grandma this photo is for you thank you for your loving hands.

Cork, Ireland –floral photo from the beautiful grounds of the Medevial 'Blarney Castle'. At this location you can climb up the many, many, many steps to the top of the castle, then hang upside-down over a sheer drop to kiss a stone called the 'Blarney Stone'. This stone is referred to as the 'Stone of Eloquence' once you kiss the stone you recive the gift of eloquence, as legends go. Me being a self proclaimed germ-a-fob passed on the kiss experience but I did climb up to view stone and observe others kissing the stone … I returned to the beautiful grounds of the castle to which I received my own type of eloquence ~ beautiful photo memories.

I did a Wikipedia search on the number 25 and discovered the numerous ways 25 is represented. I wanted to add our families way of representing 25; our Christmas tree. This year '2011' our tree turned 25 years old!

Rightfully named ‘Tree of Trees’ – our Christmas tree was born December, 1986, purchased the year AJ was born. Our tree holds an unimaginable amount of joyful memories – if memories shared around this tree ... individually ... could hang from each needle, thousands upon thousands of stories would be shared. So many different ornaments have hung from the branches too, ones my sons made in school, at church, crafts from different occasions, purchased themed sports ornaments, (Redskins (AJ), Vikings (me) and the rest of the NFL for Aaron (inside family joke, lol), and let me not forget Sesame Street themed ones, (Grover, Big Bird, etc.), Disney themed ones, (Mickey, Pooh Bear, etc.), as the years went by the tree grew up, matured if you will in décor.

Here’s to tradition, here’s to treasured memories, and here’s to our beautiful faithful tree who returns our admiration every year by standing beautifully allowing us a Christmas tree of unique meaning to our family.

For an artificial tree I’d say the money spent for it 25 years ago was money well spent. The needles are strong, the branches are full, the height stands as tall as desired, some years she sits on the floor other years she sits up high on a table; just depends. The green in which the branches display is as fresh as the day she was first cut down, oh, I mean brought, wink. From time to time the after Christmas sales tempt me to buy another tree – as now they come pre-lit and all – however, I never seem to go through with the purchase there is a pull within my spirit that just can’t allow me to move from the core of our Christmas celebration – Our ‘Tree of Trees’ – beloved more than I or my sons could express. How could I replace the tree just for the mere reason of convenience of being pre-lit and ‘new’…? NEVER, certainly no time soon heck I still keep the tree in her original box; yep 25 year old cardboard box holds her carefully until the next year of unwrapping.

I know many homes are ‘Real Tree’ only homes …. Our home is an artificial tree – ‘Tree of Trees’ kind of home.

First Weekend Every October

Last year, 2010 this guy was being wheeled around by its owner - they were trying to sell him. He was totally photo worthy but I just couldn't see myself owning him...hope he found a good home.

Art in the Park is one of the largest outdoor juried art festivals in the Southwest and is the largest fundraiser for the Boulder City Hospital Foundation. The event is held over two days in beautiful Boulder City, Nevada, not far from Lake Mead, Hoover Dam and the bright lights of Las Vegas. The event is free to the public, and although Boulder City's population is just over 17,000, the event draws over 100,000 visitors.

This gentleman was making hand made baskets - it is a beautifully crafted 'gift' what he demonstrated.

AND, here we are again the first weekend of October is here so that means - the 2011 'ART IN THE PARK' event is this weekend and I couldn’t be more excited ... happy shopping everyone!

Ooops, almost forgot to mention the festivals food - chopped this/fried that/bbq this/that/powdered sugar goodies/homemade ice cream -- and corn on the cob to drool for --- yum, yum --- (drink plenty of water, too). ENJOY!

Awe Inspiring Southwest

I’ve lived in southern Nevada for 20 years; there is so much to see and do in this region known as the southwest.

Here is an example of one way we take advantage of living in the southwest ... just a 259 mile drive away. {It’s fall so it’s time for Palm Springs, naturally.}

So, do you like to travel? The varieties of travel experiences in this region include the deserts in the south; the dense forests in the north, the incredible national parks in Utah, (NE), and the pacific coastline to the west. It's truly endless the wealth of beauty in the southwest.

We’ve just arrived - we were aboard the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, World’s Largest Rotating Tramcar - journeyed up the sheer cliffs of Chino Canyon; a 10 minute ride. At the Valley Station the elevation is 2,643 ft. -- At Mountain Station elevation is 8,516 ft; where this photo was taken. Seemingly on top of the world…. this is a one-of-a-kind experience.

Here in Palm Springs you’ll find great scenery, good food and relaxing space, which is perfect for us, a couple that really enjoys taking a break from our busy lives.

Red Rock Canyon is so isolated and quiet - E-X-C-E-P-T - when the owner of this bike is near - this man made a 'networking' call out at 'HIGH POINT OVERLOOK', "Hi my name is _____ and I'm in Vegas for the next few weeks and your name was given to me by ....." He spoke loudly and with each word he muttered - my face slowly showed this expression, "R-E-A-L-L-Y!?!?!?"....we had to leave the overlook, right then.

Kauai is quite possibly the most beautiful Hawaiian island for many reasons, one of which being Waimea Canyon.

Waimea is also called – The Grand Canyon of the Pacific.

The canyon measures 10 miles long, 1 mile wide, and more than 3,500-feet deep. It was carved thousands of years ago by rivers and floods that flowed from Mount Waialeale's summit.

The lines in the canyon walls depict different volcanic eruptions and lava flows that have occurred over the centuries.

Even though smaller than the Grand Canyon of Arizona, Waimea Canyon rivals the beauty.

We arrived at the falls and that 50% 'daily' chance of rain met us as we parked ... as we attempted to exit our vehicle a fellow visitor suggested to us that we 'wait' out the passing rain. So back in the car we went and sure enough within 8-10 min the rain stopped and allowed the green surrounding us to 'smile' back at us. Everything was 'wet and alive' - Kauai the Garden Paradise - named righfully so.

It was neat to see the river from this vantage point because the very next day we'd plan a boat ride ON this very same river - it was beautiful from 'above' and 'on' the river, just beautiful.

In Kauai (HI) wild chickens, roosters and families of baby chicks are everywhere, running through parking lots, backyards, roads, jungles and golf courses. The roosters are usually a beautiful red color, occasionally speckled with white spots. The hens are good mothers, constantly looking after their small chicks. They do not just cock-a-doodle-doo at first light, but all day too.

We didn't have this car but we had a RED 1965 VW Beetle Bug, these seat covers & a bunch of miles racked up [traveled] --- we traveled all over Europe/California/New York/coast to coast in that bug....WAY before the 'Slug Bug' game came alone.
